Walking towards the light...

Sometimes things happen in our lives that send us on a downward spiral of despair and hopelessness and for the past few days I have visited some very dark places. Places that I know I shouldn't go but places that the enemy would have me stay. I know that there has been a battle waging against my heart. Today is a new day and my heart cries out, just as the song above, I am Yours! I am making the choice today to not believe the lies of the enemy and where he would have my mind go. I have a God that is much stronger than any of the lies and there is nothing that can separate me from Him. I love this verse, out of The Message, and it has been a lifeline for me this morning.

Romans 8:38 (The Message)

31-39So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn't hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn't gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God's chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ's love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:

They kill us in cold blood because they hate you.
We're sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one.
None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I'm absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

That is tangible hope for me!!!

    Malachi 3:3 "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

    One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
    That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.
    As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
    The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: 'He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.'
    She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
    The woman was silent for a moment.
    Then she asked the silversmith, 'How do you know when the silver is fully refined?' He smiled at her and answered, 'Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it.'

    If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His Image in you!

    Heather I am praying for you that you cling to His cloak and realize that today is a NEW day! Even in the darkest of times, we must realize that there are new days which he gives us breath!

    Good for you on your choice! And even more so that you are going to reach many by sharing what you are going through. It uplifted me and reminded me, for I to have been in a dark place!

    But I rejoice in your words and sharing of that passage and your faith!
