Can't believe it's been 20 years!

Apr 10, 2009
So this is me today and the pictures below are me 20 years ago? See a big difference? It's so hard to believe that it's been 20 years since high school! It surely doesn't feel like it's been that long but then in some ways it feels like another lifetime ago. I pretty much left everything behind when I left for Toccoa Falls College after graduation and never really looked back. I tried to keep in touch with a few friends but since I lived so far away it was kind of hard. Lori (my best friend) and I stayed in touch until about 10 or so years ago and have since lost touch. How I would love to get in touch with her again and have looked for her online with no results.

The past couple of weeks a reunion site has been started for our 20th class reunion and it has been pretty fun getting in touch with old friends again and seeing pictures of everyone and learning what has been going on in the last 2 decades. Now typing that makes me feel old! LOL!
I really never thought I would even ever attend a high school reunion but am seriously considering it now. I just didn't feel any connections with anyone really and thought why bother. But the more I have talked with everyone on facebook and the reunion site I realize that some connections just don't die. New London was a very small town and many of us spent 18 years of our lives together in school and whatever else we did growing up. I just went through a box of pictures and it was fun to relive some memories. I was just so shy in school that I thought the person I am now is so different from who I was then, why bother with going back. But on the flip side of that it will be fun to actually get to hang out with everyone. The date hasn't been set yet so it depends on that since I'm 10 hours away, but it just may happen. We will see.

The pictures below are me and my best friend, Lori Jacobs, on our graduation day. My dad had a old limo he brought us in and even wore a suit drive us around! It was pretty fun. Of course I remember just about dying inside when I saw it. I was all about just disappearing into the background and this was not the way to do it! But it was fun! And then us at graduation, and literally the last day I saw so many from my class. And the last 2 pics are 2 of my senior pictures. If you compare them to the first on up above can you see 20 years difference? :)

Cool pictures. I have to admit I have not a single desire in the world to go to my 20 year (which is also this year). If I still lived in town I would probably go for the family day (assuming they have) but no way would I go out of my way to travel there.

I didn't know you attended Toccoa Falls! I live just over the state line from Toccoa!

You should totally going to the reunion is you can. I'm sure it would be fun. Our 15th is this year but we're holding off to plan something for the 20th.

Heather - I'm sooo with you on the small town high school thing. 12+ years together and those connections just don't go away. We haven't EVAH had a real reunion with the entire class - and guess who is doing on - mwa!! I've had an absolute blast contacting people. Everyone is sooo excited. I say GO! and don't wait till then to reconnect - do it now. Facebook has been an excellent place - we have a private group with 37 already. We have a blog at fhs1981.blogspot.com if you want to check things out. We had a girls nite PJ party after our planning meeting. It was GOOD to spend time together again.

You will have a great time!
